A legacy of community involvement...
The Commonwealth Club has long supported community programs as well as individuals and groups in need. In recent times, it has:
Come to the aid of families stricken by cancer and devastated by a home-fire.
Annually awarded two scholarships to high school seniors for "exemplary all-around achievement in the areas of academics, in-school and community service, extra-curricular activity and citizenship."
While the Club first fielded its own competitive baseball team in 1906, today it is a sponsor of junior baseball in Montclair.
In April, the Club's Board of Trustees voted to provide a grant supporting the work of volunteers from the Outpost in the Burbs at a soup kitchen located in Christ Episcopal Church in East Orange.
